Color Me Chartreuse

Necklace: H&M | Top: Brandy Melville
Trousers: H&M | Shoes: Charlotte Russe

I'm good for buying things that don't fit me perfectly, especially if I know I'll be able to alter it to fit and the price is just too good to pass up.

I've had these chartreuse trousers for about a year now and I finally got to where them this weekend. They were originally way too big and not tailored at all but they were a bargain at $10 and I'd already envisioned them as THE piece for 5 different outfits. After fixing up the waistline and tapering the legs as bit, they were perfect!

Plus, they're super lightweight and perfect for these super hot + humid Atlanta summers.

Fun fact: Chartreuse is a mix of yellow + green and named after a French liqueur. Yay knowledge!

Kitchen Chronicles: Goat Cheese Poppers with Honey

A few weeks ago I had a late night realization: 'A Modern Belle' is more than just style + fashion, it's a way of life for me.
I've decided to start featuring different things that highlight other areas of my life, outside of fashion.
Well, I LOVE cooking + baking and being raised in the South it's just something you typically learn to do, whether you love it or not.
Every couple of weeks I'll share a new recipe with you guys that reflects my palette (which my family + friends sometimes describe as "bougie," while I prefer terms like modern or cultured).

With that being said, I give you the first installment of Kitchen Chronicles. featuring flavorful Goat Cheese Poppers with Honey, adapted from myrecipes.com!

What you need:

- A little less than 1/4 cup of all-purpose flour
-1/4 tsp. of freshly ground black pepper
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 tsp. of sea salt
- 1 tbsp. of water
-1/3 cup of Panko breadcrumbs
- 1 1/2 6 oz. logs of goat cheese infused with honey
- 1 cup of grapeseed oil (canola also works)
- 1/4 teaspoon of crushed red pepper
- 3 bowls
- 1 deep saucepan or mini fryer

In your first bowl, whisk together your egg + a pinch of your sea salt + water.

In a second bowl, combine your flour + black pepper.

In the third bowl, combine your Panko breadcrumbs + remaining sea salt.

You now have the bowls ready for your popper prep!

Roll goat cheese into small balls, no larger than about 1 tbsp.

Roll each ball into the flour mixture, then dip into the egg mixture and finally evenly coat each in your Panko breadcrumbs.

Place the coated poppers in your freezer for around 20 or so minutes so they firm up.

While they're busy firming up, heat your oil to 350º.

When your poppers are nice and firm place them into the oil in small batches of 3-4 at a time.
Cook until they're crispy + golden brown all over.

Remove your poppers from the oil and drain them on a paper towel.

Place your finished poppers on a pretty plate, drizzle some extra honey on them
and add dashes of crushed red peppers all over.

Now pour yourself a glass of wine and enjoy!

Less Is More

Necklace: Vintage / Top: Primark / Trousers: Goodwill / Shoes: Manolo Blahnik

I love simple outfits that still manage to make a punch.
As I've grown, the 'Less Is More' mentality has become a cornerstone to my personal style.
That's definitely what I was going for here and I have to say I felt fabulous.

Wardrobe Wishlist: Winter Edition

Winter is in full swing, something Mother Nature won't let us easily forget. While I am fonder of above freezing temps, I do enjoy the challenge the winter chill brings with keeping up my style while wearing weather sensible clothing. I also love scouting out inspiration for pieces I would happily welcome into my eternally evolving wardrobe.

1. Pale Blue Statement Coat (Zara)
2. Strappy Pumps (L.A.M.B.)
3. Leather Pencil Skirt (Miss Selfridge)
4. Black Midi Dress (TopShop)
5. Oversized Statement Clutch (ELA)
6. Faux Fur Scarf

Taking It Easy

Jacket: Urban Outfitters | Shirt: Loehmann's | Skirt: Madewell |
Booties: H&M (featured in my fall finds!) | Sunglasses: Old Spittafields Market

I'm back! It's been way longer than anticipated for me to make another post.
Finals and traveling (Paris to be exact ^_^) got me a tad sidetracked but I'm refocused and ready to go.

I wore this outfit when my friend and I randomly decided to go exploring around London.
It was a wonderful day, the weather was perfect and we made some awesome discoveries.

Personal note: One thing you should know about me is that I absolutely love lions. They're quiet yet so powerful.
When I came across this bad boy at Camden Market I just had to get a picture.
Until next time!

Fall Finds

Fall is one of my favorite seasons, in terms of fashion and weather.
Every year I search for those perfect pieces that will enhance my fall wardrobe.
I figured I'd post a few of my finds so far and continue building on it as the season progresses.

I remember seeing a wide brimmed hat on a blog (most likely Refinery29)  sometime during the summer
and I knew instantly that I wanted this to be apart of my fall wardrobe.
I found this one at an H&M in London and absolutely love it!
It adds the right amount of edge and mystery to my outfits.

**Sorry about the poor quality. It was really hard to find a spot that could hold my hat with decent lighting**

Another great find was this ring from the Portobello Road Market in London.
It reminded me a lot of the YSL 'Arty' ring and I the deep red stone is perfect for fall.
Even better is I managed to haggle the price down from £20 to £11!

I knew my fall wardrobe wouldn't be complete without the perfect pair of black booties.
For me? These are it.
I snagged these at H&M and I have been more than satisfied.
They're not only one of my favorite color combinations but quite comfortable too.

Hope you enjoyed!
I'll be posting more 'Fall Finds' throughout the season so stay tuned!!

In Plain Sight

I know I said my last post would be my final (and only) summer outfit but I couldn't help myself.
I really enjoyed wearing this outfit for a girls' day out with my younger sister.
It was perfect for dealing with the southern heat.

Camo Jacket: Nordstrom Rack / Crop Top: Loehmann's / Shorts: DIY (purchased the jeans at Goodwill)

Shoes: Converse / Purse: Charity Yard Sale / Necklace: Mom's / Sunglasses: Urban Outfitters

Alright, I promise I am now saying farewell to summer.
I hope you guys are ready to embrace that autumn chill.....fashionably of course.
I know I am.
